Library

The Library

I've always wanted one. I love reading and it's been my dream pretty much since the Beast gave one to Belle. This would generally be considered the "formal living room". It would not so formally be considered "the room that no one uses". I couldn't stand the thought of not utilizing perfectly good space & since Mike loves to read as much as I do the room we created is actually very functional for us. It's the first room you see when you walk in. Welcome.

I like the sheer red curtains because when the sun comes through them they cast a romantic red light on the whole room. That hutch basically serves as a vantage point for the cats to spy on the neighbors, and harbors the stereo inside.
I effing love chaise lounges.

Front door/entry way. Doorway on the right leads to the master bedroom.
The only form of entertainment in this room besides books is our fish tank. NO TV! For whatever reason the camera makes it look really murky. Promise it's not a swamp.

The shoe basket that only Rowan is compliant with. Oh, and where cat toys get tossed so I can vacuum.
Doors to the right of the painting are the guest bath and coat closet that goes all the way under the staircase.

And then this! Best part, It's a hidden bar! Fully-functional, fits a bottle in the center, with the glasses around.

I liked the idea of putting our family pics inside this looking glass case because I knew whatever I put in here would be on full display.
Bookends! Well, more like thrifted ceramic animals I painted bright colors and turned into bookends. Consider those the first of many, as I think I've found a new hobby. Who doesn't love a lion in a bow tie?

Closest to the dining room are the cookbooks, bar/drink guides, and recipe box.

My only plans for improvement in here is continuing to expand the literature.
